Jean-Pierre Pelletier, MD, obtained his Medical Degree in 1974 at the University of Montreal and his
specialisation in 1979 from the University of Montreal and McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
After a fellowship in the United States, the University of Montreal's Department of Medicine appointed him
Assistant Professor in 1981, Associate Professor in 1985, and Full Professor of Medicine in 1992. He is
Director of the University of Montreal's Arthritis Centre and Head of the Division of Rheumatology at the University of Montreal Hospital
Centre (Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal "CHUM") since 1997. He was a founding member and later President
(1996-1998) of the Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI). Doctor Jean-Pierre Pelletier was
awarded the Canadian Rheumatology Association's Distinguished Investigator Award (2000) and the
CHUM Foundation's Award for Leadership and Distinction in the Medical Field (2001). Together with Doctor
Johanne Martel-Pelletier, he has won the International League of Associations of Rheumatology (ILAR) Prize
(2001), the International Carol-Nachman Award for Rheumatology (1996), and the European League Against
Rheumatism (EULAR) Award (1991).

Johanne Martel-Pelletier, PhD, received her Doctoral Degree in Physiology from the University of Montreal, Quebec, Canada
in 1979 and completed her post-doctoral studies in Rheumatology at the University of Miami, FL, USA.
She was appointed Assistant Professor in the University of Montreal's Department of Medicine in 1981,
Associate Professor in 1989, and Full Professor of Medicine in 1994. Together with
Doctor Jean-Pierre Pelletier, she has won the International League of Associations of Rheumatology (ILAR)
Prize (2001), the International Carol-Nachman Award for Rheumatology (1996), and the
European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) Award (1991).

Boulos Haraoui, MD FRCPC is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Montreal and is
Head of the Rheumatology Clinical Research Unit at the Notre-Dame Hospital of the University of Montreal
Hospital Centre (CHUM), Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Doctor Haraoui received his Medical Degree from St. Joseph University
in Beirut, Lebanon. Following his Post-Graduate training in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology at the
University of Montreal, he completed a Research Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Dr Haraoui is a former President of the Laurentian Conference of rhumatology and former
Chairman of the Scientific Committee as well as a former member of the Executive of the Canadian Rheumatology Association (CRA),
and is currently a member of its Therapeutics Committee. He is a founding member and the Vice-Chairman of the Canadian Rheumatology Research
Consortium. Doctor Haraoui is a member of several educational and advisory committees pertaining to the diagnosis and management of rheumatoid arthritis.
